Gaming for MS is a nonprofit public charity organization meant to unify gamers to improve the overall quality of life for those with Multiple Sclerosis through the power of video games. Our endeavors benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA). Gaming for MS aims to bring those of the [but not limited to] gaming community together to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis research and assistance. Though rather small and overlooked, the gaming community is a tight-knit one and can surely provide and build strength for those in need.
Video games allow individuals with MS to experience situations that may be difficult or limited in the real world, provide social networking opportunities to maintain mental and emotional health, and participate in one of the world's largest pastimes.
"I believe that there is nothing more powerful for someone with Multiple Sclerosis than the freedom that only video games can provide. It is an art form that allows us to all run, jump, and be whatever we want to be." Jay Fitzgerald, Founder
The games industry is a young industry full of energetic and enthusiastic people bursting with ideas and creativity, Gaming for MS seeks to harness the talents and energy of our industry to get out and raise money in order to find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
We are always looking for new ideas and new members to join our membership to help us to improve the lives of the many people who need support.
Gaming for MS was founded in 2013, an exact year after our founder, Jay Fitzgerald, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Gaming for MS is built around the belief that great companies, and their customers, want to make a difference. Even beyond that, they want to help others make a difference.
After his diagnosis, he was determined to devote his time and resources to finding a cure. Jay's hope, courage and strength continue to inspire him to maintain a vibrant quality of life despite this chronic disease, but most of all, he remains positive, continues to live his life to the fullest and is tireless in his efforts to finding the cure for MS.
In the process of learning all he could about multiple sclerosis, he discovered that MS affects close to two million Americans primarily between the ages of 20 and 40, and three times as many women as men, Jay made it his deep personal commitment to help find the cause and ultimately the cure of this disease. It is our hope and goal to raise more than $20,000 each year for multiple sclerosis research.
While many companies engage in charitable activities, they are rarely effective at involving their customer base in these efforts. That's why Gaming for MS combines gaming with charitable giving to create the leading platform for engaging brands' customers in charitable activities.
Gaming for MS works and advocates on behalf of those who have Multiple Sclerosis and those who have family with or know someone affected by MS in order to get gamers involved in making a difference. We are here to give back by raising money for the National MS Society and MSAA through ongoing activities and professional gaming events. We encourage every gamer to get involved, as every individual can make a difference.
All proceeds directly fund the National MS Society or the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America. It is also our hope that in addition to combating MS through playing video games, that an increased awareness will be created by educating the public about this devastating disease.
